Trust Among Adversaries - Maryland Daily Record

So much of the frustration people experience in negotiation and mediation stems from distrusting the other side. Of course, we know that litigation is adversarial. The mandate requiring lawyers to represent their clients “zealously” can be taken to extremes. You may have very good reasons not to trust opposing counsel. Your client may not trust you. You may not trust your client. The “justice” system may be the only way to resolve some disputes, but it does not deliver results that are consistent.
